The Paschal Candle is a large wax candle, usually fixed in a great candlestick, and featured in the church service on Holy Saturday. A new Paschal candle is blessed and lit every year at Easter, and is used throughout the Paschal season and then throughout the year on special occasions, such as baptisms and funerals. These candles are sometimes called ‘Christ Candles’ as well.
