The eyeshadow you use can make or break that first impression. Why is that? Research shows that when people first meet us, they look at our faces, and more specifically at our eyes. Women have a clear advantage here as they can create the impression they wish to convey.

There are many ways to accentuate the eyes using makeup of various kinds. One tip is to try the new blush-toned eyeshadow. Or just grab a Q-tip, run it over your regular cheek blush and apply to your eyelids. Nobody will be the wiser.

You can also use your pinkie finger as an eyeshadow applicator tool. Dip your little finger into a pearly eyeshadow and dab some below the arches of your brows and on the bow of your top lip as an extra accent.

Another tip for applying exquisite eye makeup is to soften up harsh lines of an eyeliner by sweeping some eyeshadow over it to blur the edges.

Layer your eyeshadow by using two shades – why not try brown, gray or silvery blue? Sweep a darker hue from lash lines up to creases, then top with a lighter matching color or a shimmery version of the original color. A good tool to have in your cosmetics bag is a special blending eyeshadow brush for just this type of application.

Have you noticed a trend in elongated eyeshadow? Use a stiff angled brush and a dark shade of eyeshadow to create an elongated extension from the lash line to just above your brow bone. Buff the edges with a soft brush containing copper eyeshadow. Then apply gold eyeliner to the inner corners in the shape of a sideways ‘v.’

Try applying navy liner as a base around your lashes and on the inner rims of your eyes. Then blend in a wash of matte gray eye shadow over your lids.

As you can see, the seemingly infinite colors of eyeshadow palette creates an endless number of ways to create your own special eyeshadow style.
