Recycling has really gained popularity in recent years. It’s starting to dawn on people that we can’t keep putting things into landfills indefinitely. There’s only so much room on this planet and the stuff in landfill doesn’t even break down well so will be there for thousands of years.
There are many ways that we can recycle which can help the environment. Here are just a few things to think about:-
Composting - First of all, you need to start composting. This is the best way to recycle your kitchen scraps, paper, lawn trimmings etc. Not only are you recycling but you’re also getting a great product at the end of it all. The compost that you create will be packed with lots of nutrients that will help to feed the plants in your garden.
Recycle Batteries – Everyone has at least a few gadgets in the home that require batters. Unfortunately they don’t last forever and even rechargeable batteries come to the end of their lives sooner of later. However, did you realize that simply throwing your batteries in the bin is really bad for the environment? Luckily you can recycle them very easily and many supermarkets are now displaying big tubs for discarding your batteries.
Recycle Your Clothes – Often there will be items of clothing in your wardrobe that have been sitting around for years without being worn. If you no longer want them you should either give them away to someone else or look for a way to recycle them. Old tattered clothes can be ripped up and used as dusters in the home. Alternatively you can give them to a company who will process them into all sorts of items such as home insulation and speaker cones.
As you can see, items that are no longer needed does not automatically have to end up in landfill. We should all make an effort to reduce the amount that we use, reuse whenever possible and also recycle.
